Abstract:ThenanostructuredzirconiaTBCsweremanufacturedbyatmosphericplasmasprayingwith thenanostructuredzirconiaagglomeratedpowders,andtheCO2laserbeamwiththecontinuouswavewasappliedtothelaserglazingofnanostructuredTBCs. Themicrostructures,microhardnessandthermalshockresistanceofnanostructuredTBCsandas-glazedTBCsweresystematicallyinvestigatedcomparedwithconventionalTBCs.TheresultsshowthatthenanostructuredTBCsexhibitauniquecomplexmicrostructureconsistingofcolumnargrainsandnon-meltedorpartiallymeltednanosizedparticles,whilethemicrostructureof theas-glazedcoatingsisacombinationofthecolumnargrainsinthefractureandtheequiaxedgrainsonthe surface.Theexpeirimentalresultsofthemicrohardnessandthermalshockresistancepresentthatthenanostructuredcoatingsandtheas-glazedcoatingspossessbetterpropertiesthantheconventionalcoatings.Sothe hybridprocesswherethenanometertechnologyandlaserglazingarecombinedwithatmosphericplasma sprayingtoprepareTBCsisrevealingahighpotentialfortheimprovementofTBCsproperties.
