Abstract:C/C-ZrCcompositeswerefabricatedbyinner-modificationmethodviaintroducingZrCintoC/Ccomposites.ThestructureandmorphologyofthecompositeswerecharacterizedbyXRD,SEMandEDSanalysis,andthemechanicalpropertiesofthematerialswereinvestigatedbythreepointbendingtests.TheeffectofZrCadditivesonfracturebehavior ofthecompositeswasstudied.TheresultsshowthattheZrCphaserevealsacontinuousdistributioninthecomposites.Comparedwithcarbon/carboncompositeswithoutZrCadditives,theflexuralstrengthofC/C-ZrCcompositeswasincreasedbyabout33.39%
thanthatofthenakedC/Ccomposites,andthefracturemodeofthecompositeswastransformed fromtoughnesstobrittlenessaftertheZrCaddition.Thechangeofthefracturemodewasmainlycausedbytothestronginterfacecombinationbetweenthecarbonfibersandthesubstrate.
