    Abstract:

In this paper, the welding residual stress of metal shell fillet welds which are fabricated by super strength steel is simulated during welding and heat treatment process. Finite element simulation is performed by ANSYS code. The results show that the residual stress is concentrated in heat affected zone of support fillet welds. The peak stress increases with the number of spport fillet welds increaseing. In order to improve the performance of these metal shells, heat treatments (annealing and tempering) are used. It is revealed that the welding residual stress in the fillet welds decreases and redistribs after heat treatments.
